Homeschooling & Special Needs, Inspired by the Montessori Way

Montessori Monday July 18, 2010

On Mondays, I post a recap of the Montessori work that our middle child is working on as part of her homeschooling.  When we began the blog (2010), Monkey was 3 years old and just starting the Children’s House 3 year cycle.  Sometimes, my oldest child, Jedi, joins in as well (he is not homeschooled.  Jedi has Autism, and at this point, it is a better fit for him to be in a Montessori school instead of homeschooled.  But we do a lot with him once he’s home, so he does make occassional appearances in the Montessori Monday posts.)

Montessori Monday is a blog carnival hosted by One Hook Wonder.  Please check out her blog for a ton of wonderful ideas for homeschooling, Montessori-style!

I have been looking for visual discrimination cards with changed facial features. My children used to play with them years ago! I’m working with a kindergarten student who I think would enjoy them. Could you tell me where I might purchase a set?
    Many thanks!

I am sooo happy that I found your site. I have two children (six and three) and my youngest was recently diagnosed with Autism. I had planned to begin working on my doctorate this spring. Now, with all of the therapies and appointments I’m very hesitant. How do you balance your family life with your studies? Could you e-mail me? I would really like to get your perspective.
