Tot School

Bitty Bug is 18.5 months old

This week, Bug did a lot of practical life stuff up at the counter.  Actually, it started out with the fact that every 30 seconds, I caught her in the dog’s water bowl…she would either attempt to wash things off in it, or she would dip a sponge in it and squeeze water everywhere.  So, we took those two things and turned them into some new work for her (only not in the dog’s bowl… 😉 ).  She absolutely *loved* washing potatoes and doing a sponge squeezing work!  We also went to the traveling Tot School this week, which was on the sense of touch!  Poor Bug apparently does not like getting her sense of touch dirty. LOL!

Playing with shaving cream at the traveling Tot School. She was not that thrilled that it touched her. LOL!

The cutest little girl in the world, eating her lunch at the playgroup

Washing potatoes. We gave her a bowl of potatoes, a bowl of water, a scrub brush, and a towel. She really loved this!

For the sponge work, we cut a sponge in half so it was smaller. And then on a tray, I gave her a bowl of water, and an empty bowl. She did really well transferring the water from one bowl to the other.

Working with the nature basket. We put a few new items in it this week--a cat tail, some large flat rocks, and some various seeds we found at a park.

Rubbing the cattail on her leg. She loved how soft it was. She did not love that I wouldn't let her eat it though! 😉

And just a bonus shot...clearly she should have been nicknamed "Monkey Jr."

You always have such great ideas! I love that last photo of her climbing–and the best part about it is that instead of instantly telling her to get down, you grabbed your camera to snap a photo! 😉

  2. Wow! That last picture made my heart stop beating! LOL. My little monkey climbed on top of her dresser this weekend. I thought I was going to have a heart attack!
I love the picture of her with the shaving cream all over her. She doesn’t look very pleased about it…lol.
Great idea about letting her scrub the potatoes. I’ll definitely have to get the kids involved the next time I cook potatoes.

  3. looks like Bitty Bug had a lovely week. Thanks for sharing.
We have not tried washing potatoes before, but will have to add this to our list of practical life activities for my sons, as well as when our friends with a little one come over for our co-op this year.
Have a nice rest of your week,
